The International Rally of Whangarei is based in the city of Whangarei, 160km north of Auckland in the Northland region.
The event attracts considerable international attention and is noted for it's fast flowing roads and warm hospitality. As New Zealand’s annual round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) it is also a round of the Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship (NZRC) and the Top Half Rally Series.
Initially based in Rotorua for nine years, the event moved north in 2007 to roads used for many years by New Zealand's round of the World Rally Championship event.
This event, like the WRC round, is run by Rally New Zealand, an organisation that boasts the support of hundreds of highly skilled volunteers who help make the Whangarei event extremely successful.
Rally New Zealand Ltd is a not-for-profit organisation owned in partnership by MotorSport New Zealand and a number of it’s member car clubs.
