The International Rally of Whangarei is based in the Northland city of Whangarei, 160km north of Auckland.
The event attracts considerable international attention as New Zealand’s annual round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC). It is also a round of the Vantage Aluminium Joinery New Zealand Rally Championship and the Top Half Rally Series and, for two years, was a qualifying round for the FIA Pirelli Star Driver competition.
For nine years the New Zealand round of the APRC was based in Rotorua and the move to the north in 2007 allowed competitors to enjoy the fast and smooth roads that were used for many years by our World Rally Championship event, Rally New Zealand.
The event is run by Rally New Zealand, an organisation that boasts the support of hundreds of highly skilled volunteers who help make the Whangarei event extremely successful.
