Four top Kiwi drivers have been selected as the wildcard entrants for the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) field during July’s International Rally of Whangarei.
Palmerston North businessman Brian Green, New Zealand’s most experienced rally driver, marks his fortieth year of competition at this year’s International Rally of Whangarei which runs from 2 to 4 July 2010.
Kiwi rally competitors have another opportunity to benchmark themselves directly against international drivers contesting this year’s International Rally of Whangarei with up to four drivers receiving wildcard entry status for Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) points.
Japanese driver Katsu Taguchi, with newly recruited Australian co-driver Chris Murphy, finished Rally Hokkaido the best of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) competitors to further extend his lead in the regional rally competition.
Young Victorian Brendan Reeves is the first entry for the 2010 International Rally of Whangarei, the third round of both the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship and Vantage New Zealand Rally Championship, being run from 2 – 4 July.
Scotsman Alister McRae and Australian Chris Atkinson, two well-known names in rallying, will compete in this year’s International Rally of Whangarei against New Zealand’s top rally drivers.
