Get a ticket to the action via EventfindaTickets will be available to purchase online in 2024 via Eventfinda or in person at the Whangarei Info Centre* (92 Otaika Road phone +64 9 470 3032), or via the gate. Kids Under 15 FREE (for Pohe Island, plus Sat and Sun stages).

Tickets give you access to the key, safe spectator areas along the rally (you can see these spots by viewing the Spectator Map above – they are the spots on the map with binoculars.

See the true gravel road rallying in the stages north / west and south of Whangarei (note – you will need to travel to the remote spectator areas marked on the map)

RALLY CEREMONIAL START
FRIDAY 07 NOVEMBER

Be there at 4pm, then see the cars and the stars up close at the Ceremonial Start. Grab an autograph, a photo or just wander around the amazing variety of cars. Then afterwards have a quick meal in the city.

The Ceremonial Start will be preceded by a display park on John Street, Central Whangarei. This display park will open at 4.00pm, and all competing vehicles will be there by 4.45pm. Competitors enter from the junction of Robert & John Street and continue on John Street to be parked by the Marshalls. Cars will go over the start ramp via Cameron Street, and then turn right and exit on James Street. To facilitate access and arrival cars must arrive as per the following schedule:

  • 1615hrs – 1625hrs: Cars 1 – 20 arrive to display park (parked closest to ramp)
  • 1625hrs – 1635hrs: Cars 21 – 40 arrive to display park.
  • 1635hrs – 1645hrs: Cars 41 – 60 arrive to display park.
  • 1615hrs – 1715hrs: Driver Autograph Signing – Compulsory for NZRC Competitors
  • 1715hrs – 1730hrs: Opening Ceremony
  • 1730hrs: First car starts in Reverse Numerical Order

SATURDAY 08 NOVEMBER

Entry opens from 2:30pm with the action starting from 5:00pm. Food Trucks are onsite so make sure you grab a bite to eat. The Rally cars start from @ 5:05pm and will do two runs over Pohe Island on the sensational Super Stage.

EVENT SCHEDULE

18 Special Stages over 290 kilometers on what are widely regarded as the world’s best gravel rally roads await competitors in the 2025 International Rally of Whangārei. The fast cambered roads of the north will host the last round of the 2025 Brian Green Property Group New Zealand Rally Championship.

FRIDAY 7th NOVEMBER – 2025 OFFICIAL RALLY START  (times to be confirmed)

Cameron Street, Central Whangarei
Approx. 4.30pm onwards – All rally cars will be on display in the Laneway. See the cars up close, meet the drivers, grab an autograph
5.00pm – Official opening of the event
Approx 6.00pm –.Event closes and competitors and cars depart.

Sustainability – Please support our sustainability policy and make use of the composting and recycling bins on site.

SATURDAY 08 NOVEMBER

Stages run to the west of Whangarei based from Dargaville & Ruawai. The Pohe Island super stage will run late in the afternoon. With repeat stages in the Dargaville area its a perfect day to watch many stages.

Pohe Island Super Special Stage – Saturday 08 NOVEMBER. An afternoon of action that starts from 5.00pm.

All rally competitors will complete the 1km gravel super special stage TWICE. The jump was a fantastic new addition in 2019 and will again be a great spectacle, providing several prime viewing positions. Live rally commentary, food and coffee available.

Parking – plenty of parking available around Pohe Island. Refer the map above for access details and on the day ticketing.

  • There is limited parking / access via the Riverside Drive / Dave Culham Drive roundabout, follow the marshals directions to parking on Pohe Island;
  • or park on the Port Road side and walk across the bridge.
  • The Pohe Island central car park (adjacent to Rock n Roll Club and sports fields) will be closed to the public on Friday through to Sunday for Rally Operations.

SUNDAY 9 NOVEMBER

Stages south of Whangārei. Check out the Spectator map and make sure you are at the Spectator spots marked by the first car time to see all the cars race by. Note, stages are run twice, so you can choose to stick around all day and watch the cars come by twice, or, you can pack up and head off to another spectator spot once you have seen the cars racing at one spectator spot.

The FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) is one of the premier regional championships in world rallying and is contested by teams from New Zealand, Australia, China, Czech Republic, Japan, Malaysia, India, and New Caledonia. In 2024 we are excited to host the FINAL round, where this years champion will be crowned.
